Steve Drake, an FBI Agent, was a grim Cold War avenger known as the Black Cobra. He was assisted by his sidekick, the Cobra Kid . He has no superpowers, but his costume was made from a special bulletproof plastic Drake had invented, as well as suction cups in his boots which allowed him to run down buildings. In the Four Star version of the stories which were reprinted by Ajax-Farrell, Black Cobra retains his original identity as Jim Hornsby, the original Black Cobra . Cobra had a garage underneath his house where he kept his black "Super-racer" car.
